Fostering Acceptance works with current and former foster youth in ninth grade and beyond. While strategic plans will look different for high school freshmen and college seniors, it's never too early or too late!
We also work with college students and graduates applying to law, medical, business, and other graduate schools.
Our services are always 100% free of charge.
Fostering Acceptance advising relationships begin with an in-depth consultation to understand
the student’s goals, academic background, and current stage in the admissions
process. Students will leave this meeting with
Clear next steps
A strategic plan
A scheduled follow-up session
After the initial consultation, students receive individualized admissions guidance. Students receive tailored support across every aspect of the application process. Each student’s circumstances, educational history, and goals deserve customized approach. This may include assistance with:
Building strategic college application lists developing competitive extracurricular profiles
Developing compelling personal statements
Identifying and securing strong recommendation letters
Navigating financial aid systems and fee waivers
Preparing applications for graduate and professional programs
Fostering Acceptance students are connected with our Advisor Network composed of professionals from a wide array of colleges, graduate schools, and career paths. These are not necessarily long-term mentorship relationships. Instead, the Network provides students with the informal exposure to professionals and alumni that many of their peers receive through family and social networks. These conversations can help students explore career paths, understand
educational requirements, and gain insight into specific universities and professions.
Fostering Acceptance students receive access to our Comprehensive State-by-State Resource Database covering benefits and resources available to current and former foster youth including:
State tuition programs
Scholarship opportunities
Government education funds
Housing and campus support programs
Nonprofit resources
Fostering Acceptance students receive access to test preparation, tutoring, and additional resources as needed. Fostering Acceptance takes a holistic approach to the application process and works to ensure that our students have the tools they need to succeed.
